Shade Water Gardens

I am delighted with my new pond. Joe and Ben talked me through every step of the way and offered superb advice and guidance on the specification and design. They were a hard working team and I have nothing but praise for them. We have already recommended them to a couple of friends.

Spratton Garden Club recently enjoyed a fantastic evening with Joe Pemberton from Shade Landscapes! Our members were captivated by his talk, especially seeing the caliber of work that earned him a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Joe’s knowledge of wildlife-friendly gardening is second to none—the 'newt' enthusiasts in our club certainly kept him busy with questions, and he had a helpful answer for every single one. His focus on how water features improve our wellbeing was truly inspiring. Highly recommended for any club looking for an interesting, high-quality speaker!

We saw Joe and Linda’s Tropical garden on BBC Gardeners' World and after a visit via the National Garden Scheme we were so inspired, that we decided we wanted our own oasis. Shade Landscapes owned by Joe and brother Ben came round to our average, new build garden for a consultation. After talking about what we wanted and what they could do within our budget Joe, Ben and the team turned up with a digger and 5 crates of Snowdonia rock!! Whilst there was a creative plan for the space it was a constant evolvement of ideas, and Joe and Ben were brilliant at talking everything through with us as well as patiently listening to our many questions. The team spent time to make sure everything was placed well and that the views of the waterfalls from different angles, both within the garden and from the house, were the best they can be. On top of that they also had to incorporate the need for us to keep our garden secure for our two tabby tigers. The pond is a good size for our garden and at our request, the team also made us an access point should we ever want a cold water dip!! Joe and Ben are extremely talented and the end result is stunning, it’s hard to put into words how happy we are. We can’t wait to get planting properly and really enjoy our garden all year round. Can't speak highly enough of the whole experience.

My brother had been encouraging me for a while saying that; "every garden should have a water feature" and then one day we came across Joe and family's tropical garden & eco system pond which had featured on an episode of 'Gardener's World' earlier this year (2025). I contacted Shade Landscapes after learning that it was Joe & his brother Ben's company and after a brief consulation they agreed to come and do a site survey at my property. We discussed what we would like and after receiving their quotation we agreed a start date for the work to commence. The work was completed by Ben, Joe and their small team (John & Isaac) and the finished result exceeded my expectations and my wife & I could not be happier. Attached are 2 images that were taken immeadiately after their work was completed and another 2 taken about two weeks later after my brother and I planted the area up although the planting is still a work in progress for next spring. We can't wait for the plants to become established and then the look of the pond and the surrounding area should hopefully go up another level. We are very pleased with our water feature/pond—it has become the focal point of our garden. Ben, Joe, and the entire team impressed us with their professionalism, skill, and attention to detail throughout the project.

We used Shade Landscapes to create a wildlife pond and waterfall in a wooded area of our garden, which previously had been lost and overgrown. Joe and Ben had some great ideas, which they worked hard on and talked through with us and were then able to bring to life in such a creative way. They and the rest of their team were an absolute pleasure to work with. We are so looking forward to seeing the whole project evolve over the seasons, especially as the planting comes to life in the spring. We would highly recommend this company, their vision and attention to detail is second to none and their enthusiasm is contagious.

Joe transformed my old pond (well completely replaced it) into the most fantastic water feature. The pond with two waterfalls sits right next to the patio in front of a much treasured acer which they framed beautiful. Already it’s a joy, the birds love it and I can’t wait for the spring. The Shade team are brilliant and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
