STOKE TREE SURGEON
What customers say
Around-the-clock availability, seven days a week, makes this Stoke-on-Trent outfit easy to book when a tree job needs sorting quickly. Customers describe calling and getting a swift, helpful response, with one recalling that this firm was the only one of several local companies contacted that showed genuine willingness to help. Work carried out includes felling a large ash and a sizeable conifer, along with stump grinding on a substantial trunk with spreading roots plus several smaller conifer stumps, the grinder mixing the wood into usable soil apart from two sections too close to a wall. A five-person crew is credited by name with keeping a household updated throughout a big removal, while other jobs were completed by teams of three or four working quickly without cutting corners. Punctuality features consistently, with crews arriving on time and finishing sizeable jobs, such as felling a large conifer, within a couple of hours. Something that features in review after review is how thoroughly gardens and driveways are cleared of branches, leaves and stumps once work finishes, leaving little trace a tree was ever there. Friendly manners and competitive pricing agreed after an initial phone conversation are also noted, alongside reassurance from clear communication before crews even arrive on site. Same-day call-outs remain possible given the round-the-clock opening hours.

Great work! Very professional service, quick to respond and the guys that did the work were great! Apart from the lovely work they did on the trees you wouldn’t have known they’d been. Would definitely recommend

I phoned 5 different local companies.Only mike at stoke tree surgeon showed any interest in actually wanting to help in anyway. The job was done quickly and efficiently by the lads on site.Next time i need a tree surgeon i wont even bother contacting anyone else.
Fab job tidying up trees and hedges. Great communication and left all clean and tidy. Definitely recommend.
A great job carried out carefully and professionally on our large and complicated tree in a very tight space. They arrived on time, got on with the job and cleared everything away so you couldn't even tell that they had been. They reduced the tree significantly in size as requested but the tree has responded well and they were able to maintain a good look to the tree. Thank you very much and would happily recommend Stoke Tree Surgeons.
The on site team were polite, hardworking and professional, but I’m disappointed with the overall experience and value for money. The initial assessment by the sales team the week prior suggested several trees required urgent removal. I proceeded on that basis and agreed a £1,600 day rate (cash) as they originally wanted £2100. However, on the day itself the arborists confirmed that one of the medium sized pines originally identified for felling was actually alive and did not need to be removed, so only one pine was felled rather than two. Works carried out on the day included: • Felling one medium pine • Felling 2 smaller dead trees/stumps • Dead-wooding/pruning of a birch • Light trimming of the laurel hedging • Timber stacked on site as eco habitat Despite the reduced scope compared with the original assessment (the additional trimming of laurels in exchange for not felling the other pine was minimal as they only by chance brought the small trimmer not the long one so couldn’t reach most of it), the overall price remained unchanged. The visual difference to the garden was therefore quite minimal relative to the cost. In addition, while on site the team indicated that a separate tree in the centre of the garden may in fact require felling due to being hollow, which hadn’t been highlighted at the original visit. Had this been identified earlier I would have explored including it within the same council exemption process. I have contacted the company a few times to discuss my concerns but have not received a response. Based on my experience, I would recommend others obtain multiple detailed quotes and ensure the exact scope of work and how pricing will adjust if that scope changes is clearly confirmed before proceeding and not be rushed into it. From asking around I’ve been told the day rate for 4 contractors was £800 per day not the £1600 that I paid especially for the reduced scope of work or £1200 if taking into account a few hundred profit for the company. (Note since their response below asking me to reach out to them, they’ve not responded to any mail after I paid despite being quick to respond prior nor responded to my suggestion to remedy the situation since. This comes across as disingenuous).
